Havana, Cuba: Where to stay, eat & Things to do

We visited Havana, Cuba in October 2024 and had so much fun exploring this historic and colorful city!

Read below for my 4.5 day Havana, Cuba itinerary & advice/important things to know.

WHERE TO STAY

● Airbnb in Old Havana – we loved this Airbnb because it was modern, nicely designed and decorated, spacious, in a convenient location walking distance to almost everything, had a beautiful water view and was affordable! Also am approved “Casa Particular” required for Americans to stay in.

WHERE TO EAT/DRINK

●Bistro La Bearnesa for dinner and cocktails

●El Cafe for breakfast and coffee

●Maximo Bar for lunch and cocktails

●Paladar Kilometro Zero for dinner, cocktails and live music

●Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski for rooftop dinner and cocktails

●HAV Coffee & Art for breakfast, coffee and fresh lemonade

●El Floridita Bar for daiquiris

●Terraza Habana for rooftop lunch and cocktails

THINGS TO DO

●Dine and sightsee around downtown/Old Havana – visit the main “squares/plazas” including Plaza Vieja, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza de San Francisco de Asis.

●Visit other popular landmarks including Catedral de la Habana, Parque de la Muralla, Malecon de la Habana, Hotel Nacional de Cuba, Gran Teatro de La Habana, Central Park,

●Explore the city in vintage car with Old Cars Havana

●Enjoy a night of lively colorful cabaret entertainment at Tropicana *tickets include a bottle of rum and cola & a pre-fixed dinner option can be purchased ahead of time or during the show

●Enjoy a beach day at Santa Maria Del Mar (about 20-30 minutes from the city) *beach offers lounge chairs and a very small lunch/seafood menu, bottled beer and water

●Shop for souvenirs and art at Almacenes San Jose Artisans’ Market

●Take a short and inexpensive ferry ride across the bay and visit Cristo de La Habana for beautiful views of the city from the opposite side

●Enjoy a museum tour and rum tasting at Museo del Ron Havana Club

●Visit Museo del Chocolate for fresh chocolate and history
